Special Education Online
OHDELA offers a special education program online to students in accordance with current federal and Ohio state regulations and guidelines (see Child Find info). The online special education program is individualized to meet the unique needs of each child with a special need. These unique needs are met for each student in many ways:
- Through one of several OHDELA curriculums, which can be modified to meet the student's specific educational needs. By providing additional supplemental materials.
- By providing access to the curriculum specialist, instructional teachers, and the special-education teacher.
- By delivering related services that a student might need to efficiently and effectively participate in or access his/her specific special-education program.
OHDELA provides an educational evaluation for each student with a disability, and for students who are suspected of having a disability. These evaluations can be re-evaluations or initial evaluations. Initial evaluations are preceded by interventions, which attempt to address the child's academic concerns before moving on to a full psychological evaluation. OHDELA's Special Education Program recognizes the importance of providing specialized instruction for each child with a disability and works diligently to provide this instruction through special education classes online.
