White Hat Management names new Chief Academic Officer
Downtown Akron- Dr. David Bowlin Named Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent of DELA
White Hat Management announced today that Dr. David Bowlin will be joining the organization as the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent of the Ohio Distance Education Learning Academy. (DELA).
Dr. Bowlin will lead the Academic Division of DELA by providing strategic direction for educational philosophy and curricular leadership and ensure the constant renewal of the educational vision of DELA. He will guide the continued development of all DELA educational programs.
Dr. Bowlin comes to us from Akron Digital Academy, in Akron, Ohio where he held the role of Superintendent/Executive Director since 2013. Prior to his relocation to Ohio in 2011, Dr. Bowlin served as a school administrator for 12 years in Pennsylvania, holding several leadership positions including High School Principal, Assistant Principal and Dean of Students. Currently, Dr. Bowlin also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School Leadership programs at both Baldwin Wallace University and The University of Mt. Union.
In addition to his academic career, since 2009, Dr. Bowlin has held several professional leadership positions in Education Management. At The Center for Learning in Westlake, Ohio, he served as the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development where he was responsible for overseeing the design, development and implementation of high-quality online and distance educational programs for school leaders. As Director of Online Learning at the Virtual Learning Network Partners, in Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Bowlin was responsible for the development and implementation of over 50 School District Virtual Academies. This online learning model focused on best practices in distance education which allowed students access to advanced online courses such as AP and Honors programs and created a credit recovery and alternative education program increasing student achievement and graduation rates each year.
Dr. Bowlin holds an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Carlow College, two Master of Education degrees from Duquesne University in secondary Education (Biology) and Secondary Administration. Dr. Bowlin also holds a Doctorate of Education in Administration and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Bowlin also holds both a Superintendent and Principal license for the state of Ohio.
Dr. Bowlin will be based at the corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio.
