KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM


OHDELA offers a customized, unit based curriculum for Kindergarteners. All units and teaching materials needed will be delivered with detailed lesson plans for parents. The entire curriculum is continuous and integrated, with subsequent lessons building on the foundation of preceding lesson plans. Using this approach, students are exposed to a wide range of topics, subjects, and assignments.

Reading - Emphasizing phonics to teach short vowels, consonant sounds; logical/chronological sequencing; auditory/visual discrimination; classifying; rhyming; reading 20 phonics storybooks

Spelling - Identifying word beginnings and endings; controlled vocabulary of short vowel words; key words

Writing Composition - Developing fine motor control; option of printing letters, words, simple sentences

Grammar - Developing oral expression; constructing asking/telling sentences

Mathematics - Number ideas from 1–30; patterns, shapes, understanding data from pictures; properties of addition and subtraction; problem solving; graphing; ordering numbers; matching sets; probability

Science - Seasons; five senses; space; differences among land, air, water; weather; natural resources

History - Famous people and events

Geography - Where people live, families, communities, animal habitats

Poetry/Music - Enjoying and memorizing poems, rhymes, traditional children’s songs, and finger plays
