Support for ParentsOHDELA supports parent educators in assessing each student. Our curriculum provides for the grading of students’ tests and submitted work, and our learning management system (LMS) provides an easy way to keep track and review student progress. Each OHDELA student is assigned a teacher who communicates with the parent educator to review the student’s progress. All of OHDELA’s teachers are certified by the state of Ohio. They provide regular updates on student progress to the parent and communicate with students through email, webcast, fax, telephone, etc. Parents and students may also meet with their teacher in person. OHDELA also provides technical support to ensure that learning opportunities are not interrupted by technical issues. A unique feature of the OHDELA program is that it allows parent educators to play an active role in the education of their child. OHDELA accomplishes this by allocating certain funds to the Parent Supplemental Education Account (PSEA). The PSEA allows parents/guardians to request the school reimburse towards specific educational areas, materials and events that OHDELA’s curriculum may not cover in depth, but which the parent educator, student and teacher deem important to the student’s development.
